The never ending afghan . . .

I have been reminded - yet again - why I prefer not to tackle huge projects. I simply don't have the patience for it.

But, during my Christmas break from school, I found a pattern for a lovely, lacy snowflake afghan. It looked easy. It looked quick, and so I thought, why not?

Now I'm realizing. 25 snowflakes later, I'm still trying to attach all of the silly things. Now, I am SO TIRED of snowflakes. And I am reminded again why I HATE large projects.

Looking forward to finishing that last snowflake and moving on to a nice, quick, easy scarf . . . (sigh) snowflakes.

Sweet Sherbert Dreams - a great way to get back in the saddle!

I've taken a long, LONG break from crocheting, from posting, from - well, from lots of things. Let's call it life upheaval. I got married to a wonderful guy who LOVES spending time with me. He likes spending time with me so much that - he took a lot of it.

Now that we've been married for a year and a half, we are used to each other enough that I can do things I wouldn't do around him originally - write, crochet, fun things!

SO . . . I'm trying to gear back up. Making new things, posting them to etsy, and just generally having a fabulous time getting my life back on track.

This first little item is so much fun - makes me miss the days when my daughter was small. It's a beautiful little outfit made from sherbert colored acrylic yarn and trimmed with yellow eyelash yarn. It is a PERFECT gift for a special little girl on your gift list. Best of all, this outfit grows with the child. It starts out as a dress with matching bloomers, but it is designed to fit a little angel past the baby stage. Pair it with jeans or a skirt, and you have the perfect top for a toddler on the move!

Stop by and take a look at Sweet Sherbert Dreams, and the other lovely items at Answered Prayers Etsy store!

And finally, MERRY CHRISTMAS! May the season bring you all the promise and hope of the savior's birth!

Back from an Extended Vacation . . .

It's been a long, LONG time since I've posted anything on this blog, and a long, LONG time since I've been active in my etsy store, but all vacations must come to an end sometime . . .

And the truth is, I've missed being creative. So, a few days ago, I looked up the old sites and pulled out some old projects and finished them up. Then I took some pictures and decided to give this whole craft thing another go!!

My newest listing is a super-sweet little girl's outfit called Sweet Sherbert Dreams. It has all the color of that late summer treat - just perfect for a little girl. It's designed to grow with the child, starting as an outfit and then used later as a top. And priced at only $14, it's an inexpensive and completely unique gift!

Scoot on over to etsy and take a look at this lovely item. If you like it, heart it, or heart the shop!

The Ballad of Doris Daffy

Doris Daffy is very well known in Woodshedville, Mississippi. Maybe a little too well-known. She's run Doris's Duck'N'Run - Woodshedville's gas station / tanning salon / beauty parlor / diner for the last 35 years - which is in itself an interesting feat of physics, considering that Doris claims she's only 25. She's a nice enough duck, but she's always had one (well, maybe two) major flaws.

Doris has always wanted to be a beauty. She used to enter beauty pageants, and you had to feel just a little sorry for her when she walked away without a crown. Or when people thought that she was part of the clean-up crew wearing a formal to blend in . . . Her beak's always been a little too big, her tail a little too wide, and then there was the unfortunate incident involving her wings when she started to go gray. You remember the "old blue-haired ladies" - well, take a look at Doris's wings.

Doris isn't all bad. She'd give the wings off her tail to someone in need. But she likes to talk. A lot. About everything that isn't her business. Let's face it, she's the town gossip, and working at the Duck'N'Run, she finds out everything about everybody and broadcasts it using every medium imaginable at the speed of light. If you have a pimple, your Aunt Myrtle will know before you finish pumping gas.

And she's sensitive about her looks. Last summer, Frigid mentioned her duck's feet around her eyes, and he got watery gas, cold coffee, and burned food for a month. She even turned up the heat to give him a melt-down!

Of course, if you'd ever seen her sister Dahlia, you can understand why Doris is so sensitive. But that's a story that will just have to wait until next time . . .

The Saga of Doris and Dahlia Daffy, part 1

Anyone who knows me knows that I bore very easily. And in moments when it is quiet, my mind starts to 'whir' with activity. That's a dangerous thing.

On one of those evenings, I was looking at a small quantity of nice yellow yarn. I'd made a baby blanket and was wondering what to do with the leftovers. There was too much to throw away, and not enough to launch into another project. . .

So, the Daffy sisters were born. And a few hours later, Frigid the snowman. And as I crocheted, I invented stories about them all - and the Back to the Woodshed Critters were born. I'm having great fun creating these little guys and writing their stories as I go along.

The firstborn of my critters was Doris Daffy, a lovely but loud duck. If you want to meet Doris, join in the fun with the next blog entry!

Just Another Manic Monday

This is my latest listing, the Warm Fuzzy Feelings Beret. I'm really rather proud of it - I love the way the trim turned out. It was a nice way to use up some leftover yarn from a previous project. Of course, looking at the picture makes me realize it's probably time to invest in one of those head models. Oh well, all things with time . . .
And speaking of time . . . This week, I'm blogging about a topic very close to my heart (and wristwatch) . . . time management. I started the theme on my etsy hookers page today by discussing my crazy life with two kids and seven jobs - and an etsy store that I am passionate about. Feel free to jump over and take a look! I'll continue the theme here on Wednesday.

On the store front, I did list another item today. I'm doing my best to list consistently. Mostly it's an experiment to see if that much-touted method (listing regularly) works as well as those in the forums seem to think it does. Boy I hope so . . .

Until Wednesday!

I think this is how you

put pictures in a blog post. Let's see if this works . . .

Success! This is my latest etsy listing, and it's something a little new for our shop. My mom has done custom clothing for 25 years, but her full-time job has made the old method of selling those a bit impossible. She used to do craft fairs - and the sales were great, but the time commitment is impossible with said full-time job. So, we are going to give it a try on etsy and just see what happens.

This jumper is really one of my favorite patterns. Noelle loves to wear them, and they are so versatile.

Speaking of my little model, please take note of the cookie in her hand. Yep, that was the bribe. I had to feed her to convince her that she could "model". She extorted three cookies from me during this particular photo shoot - all before supper. Oh the lengths we will go to to list something on etsy!

Now that I've figured out how to post, how to create the layout, and *gasp* how to put pictures in, it's time to find someone to read this thing. Off to research . . .

Just What You Need . . . Just In Time!
